1 David and the chiefs of the army separated for the service the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, the prophets with lyres, harps, and cymbals. Their number, the men for the work of their service. 2 To the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah, sons of Asaph, under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king. 3 To Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Isaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hand of their father Jeduthun with the lyre, prophesying over the law and praising the LORD. 4 To Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiu, Mattaniahu, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hannani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Machaziot. 5 All these were sons of Heman the seer of the king in the words of God to raise a horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. 6 All these were under the direction of their father in the music of the house of the LORD with cymbals, lyres, and harps, for the service of the house of God, under the direction of the king: Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman. 7 And their number, with their brothers, the teachers of song to the LORD, all the discerning ones, was two hundred eighty-eight. 8 And they cast lots for the duties, as well the small as the great, the skilled and the unskilled alike. 9 The lot came out first to Asaph, to Joseph; Gedaliah the second—he and his brothers and his sons, twelve. 10 The third, Zaccur, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 11 The fourth to Izri, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 12 The fifth, Nethaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 13 the sixth, to Bekaiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve 14 The seventh, Jesarelah, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 15 The eighth, Isaiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 16 the ninth, Mattaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve 17 The tenth, to Shimei, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 18 the twelfth, Izri, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 19 the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 20 to the thirteenth, to Shubael, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 21 To the fourteenth, Mattithiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 22 The fifteenth to Jeremoth, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 23 To the sixteenth: Hananiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 24 To the seventeenth: to Yishbaksha, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 25 To the eighteenth: Hanni, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 26 for the ninth, to Mallothi, his sons and his brothers, twelve 27 to the twentieth, Eliathah, his sons and his brothers, twelve 28 to the twenty-one, to Hothir, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 29 to the twenty-two, for Gidalti, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 30 The twenty-third to Mahazioth, his sons and his brothers, twelve. 31 For the twenty-four, to Romamti-Ezer, his sons and his brothers, twelve.
